PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, who has been spearheading her party’s election campaign ahead of the Punjab by-polls, has tested positive for Covid-19.
“Covid positive!” she wrote in a tweet.
Maryam has been busy leading several campaigns recently for the upcoming Punjab by-elections, with continuous exposure to large gatherings. She addressed two public events Friday (yesterday).
Sources say the PML-N vice president has quarantined herself after testing positive with the virus. People who were in close contact with her are also being tested.
This is the second time the PML-N leader has contracted the virus. She had first tested positive in July last year.
Pakistan is currently facing a surge in Covid cases, and health experts have advised to continue wearing masks, and maintain social distancing.
