Sindh government’s Sharjeel Inam Memon took a helicopter survey of Karachi on Tuesday after which he went on to declare that 90% of the city had been drained of the monsoon rain.
Had Mr Memon flown over DHA, he would have seen scenes of devastation. The group on Facebook called Voice of DHA was flooded with residents documenting the water and electricity status in their immediate neighbourhoods. It was clear that the commercial areas had very poor drainage.
The qurbani meat from Eid ul Azha spoiled in the heat and the elderly were stranded. People with larger vehicles posted that they would help families that were stranded. Neighbours offered to send over drinking water supplies and food if anyone said they were stuck.
In the Gizri graveyard, at least two graves were documented as having collapsed.
A protest was planned today outside the Clifton Cantonment Board office (Wednesday July 13) at 11 am.
