How to make kunafa at home

What’s the first thing that comes to our minds when we hear its time for Eid? Sawaiyan!

It would be wrong if we say we’ve never received or sent out an Eid card or message with the classic sawaiyan joke, “Sawaiyan paki hain, sub ne chakhi hain, tum kyun ro rahe ho, tumhare liye bhi rakhi hain.”

However, this Eid try this different take on the traditional sawaiyan with a quick and easy Kunafa recipe which was made on Aaj ka Pakistan with Sidra Iqbal Eid Special.

You will need:

  • Vermicelli
  • Sugar
  • Milk
  • Cream cheese
  • Cream
  • Custard powder
  • Sugar Syrup
  • Pistachios

Method:In a pan, saute the vermicelli with butter.

For the filling: In a saucepan, add the milk, cream, sugar and cream cheese and keep it on a low flame.

In a separate bowl, mix the custard powder in half a cup of milk. Bring the filling mixture to a boil and slowly add the custard to it and keep stirring.

In your serving dish or cupcake molds, layer the vermicelli, and custard filling and let it set, then then again add another layer of vermicelli.

Bake it in the oven for 5 minutes and then drizzle some sugar syrup on top. Garnish it with pistachios.
