Missing girl found strangled to death in Peshawar

Police on Monday recovered the body of an 11-year-old girl who went missing the night before from the Railway Colony in Peshawar.

The body was found inside an empty quarter in the Cantt Railway Station Quarters. The girl’s family and other people from the vicinity refused to bury the child and protested with the body.

They also alleged that the child was raped before she was strangled to death.

The girl had gone to the market on July 3 but did not return after, her father said in the FIR registered at the Cantt Police Station.

The police thoroughly searched the area and eventually succeeded in sending the body for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death. Forensic samples were also sent for testing to confirm whether or not sexual violence was committed against the minor.
