The King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence was conferred on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa for making “significant contributions” to defence cooperation between both the countries by Saudi Arabia, the armed forces media wind said.
The army chief visited the kingdom on an official tour, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement on Sunday. COAS Qamar called on Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who is also the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and defence minister of KSA, and General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the chief of general staff of Saudi Armed Forces, in Jeddah.
During the meetings, the statement said that matters of mutual interests, bilateral defence and security cooperation and regional peace and stability were discussed.
The Saudi Press Agency had also shared the development.
“Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with the Kingdom and acknowledges its unique place in the Islamic world,” the COAS said.
Both sides agreed upon enhancing defence cooperation in the fields of joint training, air defence, counter-terrorism and communication/information domain. They also agreed to further enhance cordial relations and the “deep spirit of brotherhood into an enduring strategic partnership, being vital players in the region with significant responsibility towards the unity of Muslim Ummah.”
