Former Miss Brazil Gleycy Correia died on Monday. The 27-year-old model passed away after being in a coma for two months. She was hospitalised after developing complications following a routine tonsillitis surgery.
“She underwent surgery to remove her tonsils and after five days at home she had a haemorrhage,” Lidiane Alves Oliviera confirmed as the spokesperson for the family.
That massive haemorrhage caused a heart attack on April 4 and “since then she had been in a coma, without brain activity,” Oliviera said.
Her family has announced that they will denounce medical negligence.
Correia was crowned Miss Brazil in 2018. But apart from her work as a model, she was also a businesswoman, specialising in laser treatments and makeup. Having more than 50,000 followers on Instagram, she always took advantage of the platform to talk about education in her country and the harsh childhood she had.
