Why did Aamir Khan not let the music crew for Laal Singh Chaddha go home?

Indian actor Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha is an ode to Bollywood actor Tom Hanks Forrest Gump but that is not the only reason why we are awaiting its August release.

The music composed for the movie has the blood sweat and tears of at least 150 people, including 75 musicians from an orchestra. The trailer’s music was recorded in Budapest.

Interestingly, the crew members, as well as musicians, stayed at Aamir Khan’s Panchgani home to work on the sound. The Panchgani home is a sprawling holiday mansion that the star owns in India.

Score composer Tanuj Tinku was given a simple brief, the movie is wholesome and needed a score to match. The musicians got to work as soon as they saw the movie, throwing ideas as well as tunes at each other. The entire process was organic, taking just two weeks to conclude all the thematic material and character motives.

Tiku wanted orchestra influences to accompany the movie, so live samples of the violin, piano and guitar were used throughout.

Laal Singh Chaddha has been produced by Aamir Khan Productions in collaboration with Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios. The movie also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni.
