PTI leaders get interim bail in long march vandalism case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore approved on Friday the interim bail of the PTI leaders in a case pertaining to the alleged vandalism and damaging public property during the party’s May 25 long march.

The court directed the PTI leaders to submit Rs100,000 worth of surety bonds each.

Earlier, the police had approached the ATC for the arrest of PTI leaders, which issued non-bailable arrest warrants.

The arrest warrants were issued for former ministers Shafqat Mahmood, Hammad Azhar and Dr Yasmeen Rashid. Other non-bailable warrants have also been issued against PTI leaders Nadeem Bara, Mian Mahmood Al-Rasheed and Ejaz Chaudhry, amongst others.

The PTI leaders then moved court seeking pre-arrest bail.

Earlier, police had registered FIR against 13 PTI leaders at Lahore’s Gulberg police station while a case had been registered against 14 PTI leaders at Shahdara police station.
