Cabinet revives five-day work week for bureaucrats

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has implemented the five-day work week to save energy in the midst of a severe power crisis after a report was presented to the federal cabinet on Tuesday (today).

The minister for energy deliberated the recommendations prepared by a working group of lawmakers that made the following suggestions:

  • Five-day work week
  • One day work from home
  • 35% reduction in fuel allowance of govt officials (this will not apply to operational vehicles of public departments)
  • Closure of lights in streets and public places on alternate days
  • Reduction in working hours of commercial markets
