Maryam goes ‘nuclear’ on Imran’s atomic programme remarks

Maryam Nawaz has warned Imran Khan against talking about Pakistan’s atomic programme, saying he has no right to talk about it as he had no role in making the country a nuclear power.

“The nation has taken their mandate from Imran Khan over his remarks against the country,” Maryam said while talking to the media in Islamabad on Thursday, adding that the mandate he was talking about was a snatched mandate.

Maryam lashed out at the former prime minister over his statement during an interview to Bol News programme Tajzia on Wednesday, in which Khan had said that Pakistan would break into three parts if the Establishment did not take the right decision. “A true leader never talks about dividing the country but to uniting it,” Maryam said.

“Not the country but Imran Khan’s party would be divided,” she went on to say.

She said that Khan’s statements against state institutions were condemnable. Was it wrong for institutions to perform their duties according to the Constitution of Pakistan, she questioned.

Maryam said that the PTI chairman was dragging the judiciary into politics, and that the nation recognized that he was trying to spread what she said was anarchy and chaos in the country.

She alleged that Khan was using Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s resources for his rallies and personal goals.

She said that Imran Khan had directed party workers to reach D-Chowk despite the court’s order against doing so, adding that no political party had ever set green belts on fire in the past.

She said that Imran Khan could harm the country by doing the politics of chaos.
