ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted pre-arrest bail to Iman Mazari, daughter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shirin Mazari, in a case related to defaming the senior Army leadership.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah, while hearing Iman Mazari’s plea for pre-arrest bail, granted her security bail till June 9.
A case was registered at the Ramna police station in Islamabad on Friday.
Lt. Gen. Humayun Iftikhar Advocate General Headquarters had filed a complaint against Iman Mazari under Sections 138 and 505 for defaming the senior leadership of the army and threatening them.
The FIR stated that on May 21, the daughter of a former federal minister made baseless allegations against the Pakistan Army and its chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
“Her derogatory statements are highly disparaging aimed to cause and incite mutiny/intimidation amongst ranks and file of Pakistan Army,” it stated.
“It ridicule and created hatred within the Pakistan Army, while also causing unrest within the institution which is also leading to the punishable offence”
