Hamza attends funeral of cop killed during raid on PTI activist’s home

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz attended on Tuesday the funeral of the police constable who was killed during yesterday’s late night raid at a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activist’s house in Lahore.

Hamza was flanked by PML-N leader Attaullah Tarrar and others as well as the Punjab police chief.

Hamza, who had earlier tweeted about the incident, addressed a press conference after the funeral prayers.

A bullet struck constable Kamal Ahmed in the chest while he was part of a police party that raided PTI activist Sajid Hassan’s house in Lahore.

The deceased leaves behind a widow and five children, three sons and two daughters. The eldest daughter is 11 years old and his youngest son is eight months old.

Ahmed was the only breadwinner of his family who lives in a small rented house in Lahore.

“The issue has escalated from abuse to bullets,” tweeted Hamza Shehbaz from his verified Twitter account. “Kamal’s murder at the hands of PTI workers is a conspiracy to spread mischief. I assure the family of justice,” it stated.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah held the PTI chief Imran Khan, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid and PTI workers responsible for the constable’s death.

The incident was “a proof that Imran Khan is a terrorist,” according to a statement issued on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s official twitter account.

In response to Maryam Nawaz’s tweet, PTI leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said a trial will be held over the constable’s murder while holding the ruling PML-N responsible for the killing.
