Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would make your exit out of a group discreet. In the future, exiting a group will not result in a system notification.
This move comes a few days after WhatsApp offered quick reactions to messages, while also increasing the size of files that you can send on the application from 10MB to 2GB in a bid to make WhatsApp more user friendly.
After its latest update, the only people who will be notified about someone leaving a group will be the admins of that particular chat. The feature is still in the development stage and beta testing is yet to begin. It will eventually be released on WhatsApp on Android and iOS.
For now, group exits are displayed as system messages in the main chat, much like the notification of a display picture or group name change.
