11 of family killed in van-dumper collision in Gujranwala

Gujranwala: At least 12 people – including 11 members of one family – were killed and 10 others were injured when a dumper truck coming from the wrong side of the road collided with two vans at Hafizabad Road, Gujranwala’s last town, on Friday.

The dumper truck driver fell asleep at the wheel at around 4am, resulting in the accident.

The bodies have been sent to DHQ hospital. The victims include women and children. Five of the 10 people injured are in critical condition.

The people in the two vans were returning to Gujranwala after visiting a shrine in Sarghoda.

CM Hamza takes notice

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz expressed his grief over the loss of lives.

Hamza sought a report from the Gujranwala commissioner and the city’s RPO.

Offering condolences to the bereaved families, the Punjab CM called for providing the best medical facilities to the injured people. He also ordered the administration and elected officials to reach the hospital.
