Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated Shahbaz Sharif on his election as prime minister.
Erdogan had called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and felicitated him over his election, Aaj News reported on Monday.
During the telephonic conversation Erdogan said that he was very happy that Shehbaz had been elected as prime minister.
He further hoped that under Shehbaz's leadership, the fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkey will be further strengthened.
Shehbaz said that Pakistan and Turkey were trustworthy brothers, hoping to bring further closeness in the relations of both countries.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet congratulated the newly-elected prime minister.
"Congratulations to H. E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan," PM Modi wrote on his official Twitter handle, adding that his country desired peace and stability in the region.
