Prime Minister Imran Khan has proposed the names for the committee that will pick a caretaker government under the Article 224(A) of the constitution.
According to a letter issued by the PMO, Khan has proposed the names of Asad Umar, Pervez Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood and Shireen Mazari for the committee.
According to the constitution's Article 224, the president appoints the caretaker prime minister after consultation with the outgoing prime minister and the opposition leader in the National Assembly.
Opposition Leader in The National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif terming the dissolution of National Assembly 'unconstitutional' had refused to nominate a caretaker prime minister, while interim PM Imran had nominated former Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed as caretaker prime minister.
With the refusal of the opposition leader in the National Assembly to nominate the caretaker prime minister the first phase is already over.
