A mother killed her three minor children in Islamabad using a knife and then attempted to commit suicide, after she had a domestic brawl with her husband, reported Aaj News on Thursday.
Police transported the bodies of three-year-old Noor, four-year-old Muskan and seven-year-old Aayan to PIMS hospital. Presently, the accused, Zeba, is under treatment as she injured herself in the suicide attempt. However, she was saved in time.
The multiple murders were committed in the Shahzad Town police station jurisdiction and further investigation is underway.
Domestic violence cases are becoming commonplace in the Punjab region, where on March 24, in another case of horrific violence, a husband strangled his wife of 12 years to death over a minor argument within the limits of Burewala Police Station in Punjab.
According to details, Mohammad Ashraf and his wife Nazia bibi would frequently get into domestic quarrels. The couple was married for 12 years and had five children together.
Soon after the incident, rescuers rushed to the scene to try and save Nazia but to no avail. It is still unclear as to who called the rescue teams and where Ashraf was when they arrived.
Nazia, meanwhile, was found lifeless and rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Police were also called to the hospital and they took the body for necessary legal formalities, including an autopsy.
An FIR was also registered on behalf of Nazia’s brother, Liaquat Ali, but no arrests have been made so far.
