Senior journalist and newspaper columnist Hassan Nisar is being called out by social media users for misbehaving and attacking female analyst Reema Omer on live TV on Monday.
The two appeared as guests on anchorperson Aleena Farooq’s talk show, along with three other male guests including Sohail Waraich, Shahzada Iqbal and Arshad Bhatti.

The topic of the talk show was the latest development in local politics - coalition of PTI and PML-Q after the no-confidence motion was tabled against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the National Assembly on Monday.
After Omer presented her analysis of the political situation of the country, she was cut off by Nisar who said, “All of this started even before you were born bibi.” He accuses Omer of being confused and added, “Your knowledge is limited, it’ll grow with time.”
To this Omer replied, “I don’t want that to happen, or else I would become a cynic just like you.”
“Do you even know what cynic means? Any one who isn’t a cynic in this country is mad!” Nisar said in a heated reply.
Journalist Asma Shirazi shared the video clip on her Twitter and said, “An argument should be answered with an argument, not abuse.”
Twitter users criticised Nisar and expressed solidarity with Omer.
“In the world full of Hassan Nisars, be Reema Umer,” said one user.
“Women anchors shud have the power to switch off mic when a guest becomes obnoxious,” said one user.
Journalist Mehreen Zahra-Malik called on media owners for strict measures against bad behaviour on TV.
The live TV event also revealed a misogynistic side of Pakistani Twitter.
Some social media users praised Nisar for “putting Omer in her place.”
