Pakistan reports zero Covid related deaths after two years

For the first time in two years, Pakistan reported no Covid related death during the last 24 hours, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data.

Since the start of the pandemic in the country in 2020, 30,333 people have died after contracting the virus, while the global death toll has crossed the six million mark.

Out of 34,476 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 443 people tested positive for the virus, bringing the Covid positivity to 1.28 per cent across the country.

Currently, 455 people infected with the virus are receiving critical care.

In view of the declining rate of Covid, the NCOC on March 16 lifted all restrictions across the country except for mandatory vaccination. The Covid monitoring body's chief Asad Umar tweeted, "All those who are not vaccinated must get fully vaccinated so that they can avoid all restrictions. We will continue to monitor disease patterns closely & take action if needed."

So far more than 101 million people across the country have been fully vaccinated against the virus, according to NCOC data.
