A female police constable died mysteriously in Islamabad on Friday morning and police have launched an investigation into her sudden death, reported BBC Urdu.
According to details, she was already in a critical condition when she was brought to the hospital, where it was determined that she has ingested a pesticide of some sort. A post-mortem was performed on the body and it has been handed to her family.
The Islamabad Operations IG has taken notice of the incident and formed an inquiry committee under the supervision of DIG operations, with directions to submit a report within the next 12 hours.
The IG also took note of details such as Iqra's last rites being performed immediately while he also asked how did she come to ingest the pesticide.
The family of the deceased has also been contacted, while police say that they will look into everyone they deem worth investigating.
Iqra originally hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mansehra but had moved to Karachi with her parents and siblings. She recently graduated from Karachi University with honours.
Iqra joined the Islamabad police force in 2019, moving to the federal capital for her job. She was staying with a relative, Traffic Police SP Arif Shah.
According to Shah, on the day of the incident, Iqra went to police headquarters and then the bank. She came home and business was as usual till Iqra started vomiting.
It was when she vomited a second time that Shah took her to the Polyclinic Hospital, where doctors tried to save her life for about 45 minutes.
Shah also said he had informed Iqra’s parents when they were leaving for the hospital. Furthermore, he said that they had a good relationship and even though they talked about everything, he was not aware if she was upset or facing a problem.
