Pakistani actor Ahad Raza Mir has been cast in a Netflix original series “Resident Evil,” as reported by Variety on Thursday.
The streaming service or the show's production team have not yet revealed what character Mir will be playing in the upcoming show.
Based on a popular video game franchise, Resident Evil is a live-action series that stars Lance Reddick as Albert Wesker and Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, and Paola Nuñez alongside the Yaqeen Ka Safar actor.
Social media users congratulated the actor for his achievement.
Mir is the second Pakistani star to bag an appearance in a Netflix series. Earlier this year it was revealed that actor Humayun Saeed has been cast in “The Crown” as Dr Hasnat, Princess Diana’s love interest.
The teaser art released by Netflix shows a vial of what looks like blood, a pill marked “joy” set against a yellow backdrop. The third photo features some bubbles of blood.
The show was first announced in August 2020, and according to the statement by Netflix it would take place across two timelines, one with sisters Jade and Billie Wesker moving to New Raccoon city as teenagers and the other with the sisters trying to survive a zombie apocalypse.
The official logline of the show says, “Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”
