PML-Q demands Pervez Elahi be announced as Punjab CM

Pakistan Muslim league-Quaid (PML) has demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to replace Usman Buzdar with Chaudhry Pervez Elahi as the Punjab chief minister before calling the session of the National Assembly regarding the Opposition's no-trust move.

A Dawn News report citing sources said that the PML-Q leadership has conveyed to the prime minister that the announcement of speaker Punjab Assembly as the CM Punjab will help PTI-led government to tackle Tareen group's rebellion as it also demanded the removal of Buzdar as CM Punjab.

In turn, PML-Q will offer its full support to the prime minister against the no-trust move, the report said.

The Tareen group had already made it clear that it did not demand that Aleem Khan is given the Punjab CM office.

The report also revealed that PTI had assured the PML-Q that Elahi would be announced for the slot of CM Punjab after the no-trust motion was defeated. But the PML-Q is doubtful regarding the promise, it added.

“If the premier does not take a timely decision with regard to nominating Parvez Elahi for the Punjab chief minister’s slot, the PML-Q is free to explore other options,” the report citing a source said.

Meanwhile, the Opposition trio claimed to have made progress in talks with government's allies regarding the no-trust move against prime minister Imran Khan.
