At least eight people have been killed after an armed clash over a land dispute between two groups in the riverside (Kacha) area of Shikarpur.
According to Tajdero police, the clash started was due to an old enmity between members of the Junejo and Kalhoro clans.
Members of the two group, armed with heavy weapons including submachine guns, traded fire starting Tuesday morning that left at least eight people dead, while leaving several others including bystanders injured.
Among those killed were four members of the Junejo clan, three members of the Kalhoro clan, and one member of the Mangejo clan.
Tajdero DSP Shahjahan Shah told Aaj News that the groups have a history of such clashes, with the attackers known to escape into the riverside areas to escape law enforcement.
DSP Shah added that the police is yet to make any arrests in connection with the case but added that efforts are underway to apprehend those involved.
DIG Larakan has taken notice of the incident and instructed the SSPs of Larkana and Shikarpur to keep him apprised of developments.
Last year in another such incident in Shikarpur, two people were killed and 12 others injured in a clash between two groups of Jatoi tribe. The clash was also a result of dispute over agricultural land.
