PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday challenged Prime Imran Khan to dissolve assemblies and quit in the latter’s address to the nation today evening. Bilawal assrted that the PPP was ready for elections to dispel the premier's notion that his PTI could have done a better job in providing basic resources to Sindh over the last 15 years.
“If he [PM Imran] can think he can fight with PPP, then he should dissolve assemblies and we are ready for elections,” he said while addressing a public gathering in Hyderabad, as the party marches to Islamabad in an attempt to dislodge the government.
“Dissolve the assemblies and resign by yourself or else the PPP workers are coming for a democratic attack and no-trust move is under way,” he said, alleging that the Centre had started panicking within two days of the party’s protest.
On Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s call for an Imran-Zardari debate, he said the premier was not worthy of the debating with a man of the former president’s stature. He credited Asif Zardari, his father, for reviving the 1973 Constitution, spearheading CPEC, and building Gwadar.
Bilawal stated that PM Imran had robbed people of their rights and stolen basic utilities from the people. “He [PM Imran] has changed the name of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and thinks that it is his programme. Now, the time has come to send this selected and puppet Imran Khan packing,” Bilawal said.
The PPP chairman urged the people to join his march to the capital to dislodge the government. “The PPP has always fought for the rights of the poor people, students, labourers, and growers. The Sindh government had set the minimum wage at Rs25,000 per month,” he said.
On the ongoing PTI protest in Sindh, he said the government has sent a “few of its jesters” to the province for a march in the name of rights. Foreign Minsiter Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi are leading the PTI march in Sindh.
“The rights of Sindh have been usurped by none other than this puppet and selected [premier]. This selected Imran Khan has usurped the rights of all provinces,” Bilawal said.
