Lahore Qalandars beat Islamabad United by six runs, reach PSL 7 final

Lahore Qalandars beat Islamabad United by six runs in a thrilling encounter in the Eliminator 2 match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday to reach the final of the tournament.

With the win, Qalandars have booked a place against defending champions Multan Sultans in the final on Sunday at the same venue. Lahore were beaten by Multan in Qualifier 1 on Wednesday while Islamabad edged Peshwar Zalmi on Thursday night in Eliminator 1.

Earlier, Qalandars won the toss and opted to bat against Islamabad United.

Lahore Qalandars scored 168 runs. Abdullah Shafiq scored 52, Kamran Ghulam 30, Mohammad Hafeez 28 runs, while Fakhr Zaman scored 1, Phil Salt 2, Harry Brooke 2, and Smith Patel has scored 21.

Liam Dawson and Muhammad Wasim took two wickets each.

In pursuit of the target, Islamabad United were bowled out for 162.

United were off to one of the worst start possible. Stirling, Jacks, Shadab Khan, Dawson all went back inside the powerplay.

For United Paul Stirling scored 13, Will Jacks 0, Shadab Khan 14, Liam Dawson 12, Alex Hales 38, Azam Khan 40, Hassan Ali 6, Asif Ali 25, Wasim. Junior was dismissed for 4 runs. Zaman Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took 2.2 wickets each.
