Minnie Mouse's temporary blue tuxedo receives mixed reactions

The world's most famous female mouse is getting an outfit makeover with a smart blue pantsuit to celebrate 30 years of Disneyland’s Paris resort, reported BBC.

Minnie Mouse will temporarily swap out her traditional red polka dress with the new outfit while her iconic bow will be kept in the new look designed by Stella McCartney, according to the report.

Minnie’s will debut in blue tuxedo at Disney’s Paris entertainment resort from March 2022, which is also Women’s History Month in the US.

In a tweet, Disneyland Paris announced Minnie Mouse’s new outfit calling it “gorgeous”.

Quoting McCartney, the report said, “This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation.”

Disney fans expressed mixed online reaction on the temporary change in the female mouse’s outfit.

Tesla founder and CEO, Elon Musk, tweeted: “Disney in the streets, Euphoria in the sheets.”

In 2019 the cartoon made her debut as "Captain Minnie" on board a Disney Cruise Line, sporting a white pair of sailor trousers. A Minnie’s fan pointed out that this was not the first time Minnie has worn trousers, saying “she looks wonderful in literally anything and everything she wears”.

Sharing pictures of Minnie, a user tweeted that she is just being an “adorable cartoon mouse” and not “destroying the fabrics of society”.

Another mouse’s fan would be upset only if Minnie’s new look pants didn’t have “real pocket”.

In an interview to Fox News, US commentator Candace Owens criticised the makeover labelling it an attempt to make the character “more masculine”. She also accused the people behind designing the suit of destroying “fabrics of our society”.

Minnie Mouse was first introduced to comic book readers almost 100 years ago as the love interest of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse character. In 1942 it was revealed that her full name is Minerva.
