Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa on Monday met US special representative for Afghanistan Thomas West at the GHQ to discuss matters of mutual interest, current security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation, according to ISPR.
COAS stressed that the world can’t afford an unstable Afghanistan, hence the there’s a need for global convergence to avert the looming humanitarian crisis.
The Army Chief thanked the dignitary for participating in the 17th session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), who in turn hailed Pakistan for organizing the grand conference.
West appreciated the role Pakistan played in the Afghan situation and the special efforts for Pak-Afghan border management put in by Islamabad.
The US representative promised further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
