Noor Mukadam case: Defense requests an inquiry into the leak of CCTV footage

ISLAMABAD: The lawyers of the accused charged with murdering or being accomplices to the murder of Noor Mukadam, filed a plea seeking the full record of the CCTV footage that leaked on social media a week ago. They also requested the court to order an inquiry into the leak itself.

Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani heard the case wherein the counsel of the accused submitted an affidavit in the court, which also prayed to investigate the leak of the footage on social media.

The prime accused Zahir Jaffer along with other accused in the Noor Mukadam murder case were produced in the court.

Lawyer Akram Qureshi and Shehzad Qureshi represented Therapyworks employees; Sajjad Ahmed Bhatti and Malik Shahbaz Rasheed appeared as legal counsel of the household staff of Jaffer's house, Asad Jamal represented Zahir's mother and Advocate Basharatullah was legal counsel of Zahir's father Zakir Jaffer.

During the hearing, the court directed the lawyer Malik Amjad to get the power of attorney signed by the prime accused.

However, despite the judge's directives, Zahir did not sign the document and refused to authorise Amjad as his attorney, saying: "He is not my lawyer. I won't sign. My lawyer is Babar, who is a barrister and he is coming."

A trial court on October 14 had indicted Zahir along with his parents, their three household staff, Therapyworks CEO Tahir Zahoor and employees Amjad, Dilip Kumar, Abdul Haq, Wamiq and Samar Abbas in the case.
