PPP MNA gets protective bail in Nazim Jokhio murder case

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday granted protective bail to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Member National Assembly (MNA) Jam Abdul Karim in the murder case of Nazim Jokhio, whose body was recovered from the farmhouse of PPP MPA Jam Awais in Karachi’s Malir area last week, ARY News reported.

Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar granted the PPP lawmaker bail till November 26 and directed him to appear before the Malir District Court in Karachi.

Meanwhile, PPP MPA Jam Awais and other suspects will remain in police custody for another four days as a Malir court today extended their physical remand until Nov 16.

It is to be noted that in the murder case of Nazim Jokhio, the family members of the victim had given the names of Jam Karim and other persons in their statements while the DVR from the farmhouse of the arrested MPA Jam Owais is also in the custody of the police.

Jokhio was allegedly tortured to death after he tried to stop and then filmed foreign nationals, believed to be guests of the PPP lawmakers, as they were hunting the endangered houbara bustard.

Police have also included section 365 of kidnapping in the case with MNA Jam Abdul Karim's name part of the list of those accused.

According to the investigating officer, 16 more persons including Jam Abdul Karim have been named in the incident out of which five accused are undeintified.
