Islamabad police turn to Twitter for help finding dead girl's parents

Islamabad police officer Amna Baig took to Twitter on Wednesday to appeal to social media users to help them find the parents of an unidentified dead girl found in the bathroom of a Metro station on Monday.

The post, which was also published on Facebook, featured a photo of the girl and a contact number for people to call with any information on the girl's identity or that of her family members.

Baig, who is an assistant superintendent of police in Islamabad, also tweeted that she was reluctant in sharing the girl's image but it was necessary to help them find her family and ultimately her killers.

The discovery of the girl's dead body in a bathroom at a bus station in G11 shocked people.

Her body was shifted to PIMS for medico-legal report.

SHO Ramna was quoted telling the media that the deceased appears to be aged between 10-12 years, saying the body bore torture marks.

The Nation reported the discoveries of other children earlier this year. Two children, 8 and 9, were found dead in Sadiqabad, in September, a day after they went missing.

Before that, a seven-year-old boy was found dead in Okara two days after he went missing from his home. The police reported he had been sexually assaulted.
