After Pakistan, China has also decided to skip the regional security meeting on Afghanistan which will be hosted by India.
Indian wire service ANI, citing sources, reported on Monday that China had decided against participating in Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan on November 10, which will be attended by seven countries other than the host India.
They said China has replied to India's invitation and said it will be unable to attend due to “scheduling issues”.
The meeting will be led by India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, with NSAs of Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyztan having confirmed participation in the dialogue.
On non-participation of Afghanistan in dialogue, the sources said none of the eight countries recognises or legitimizes the Taliban government. India also does not recognise so it so it has not invited Afghanistan, they added.
Earlier, Pakistan had declined India's offer to attend the national security advisers meet, describing India as a "spoiler" in Afghanistan rather than a "peacemaker."
"I will not go," Pakistan's National Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf stated in answer to a query about whether he would attend the event. “I will not be attending. A peacemaker cannot be a spoiler.”
