The police on Saturday arrested a man from Muzaffargarh, Punjab after a video of him being disrespectful of the namaz went viral on social media on Friday.
The Shah Jamal police station arrested Asif Muhammad Hanif who ridiculed the religious ritual of prayer while other people were beating drums and singing.
Issuing directions to the police, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also took notice of the viral video and said the young man hurt sentiments of Muslims and strict action should be taken against him.
Earlier, the police in a statement said they were asked to trace the man in all districts and requested people to provide details about him.
Social media users expressed outrage over the video and condemned his act.
