Account which tweeted rape threats to Kohli's baby girl was Indian, not Pakistani: report

The account of a social media user which tweeted rape threats to India's cricket captain Virat Kohli's nine-month old daughter is from India and not Pakistan, reported an Indian fact checking website.

According to a Boom report, several users were accusing Pakistani social media handlers of issuing threats to Kohli's daughter as the disturbing tweet by @criccrazyygirl, went viral. They made the assumption because the profile picture of the Twitter handle was of a woman wearing a Pakistan cricket team jersey.

However, the fact checking website investigated past tweets from the account and found the Twitter handle belonged to a Telugu-speaking Indian right-wing user.

It further added that the user earlier handled @ramanheist account and it had no connection with any Pakistani user.

The report also stated that it was waiting for a comment from Twitter on the matter and the article would be updated after receiving their response.

India's cricket team was severly criticized after they lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in the recent matches of T20 World Cup.

Mohammad Shami was trolled following India's loss to Pakistan and after several days, Kohli supported his Muslim colleague saying no one should be attacked for their religious beliefs.

Soon after it, the social media user tweeted rape threats to Kohli's daughter Vamika.
