Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and member of National Assembly Mohammad Pervaiz Malik passed away in Lahore on Monday. He was 73 years old.
Pervaiz was also serving as PML-N Lahore president.
A report in Dawn quoted his son Ali Pervaiz Malik as saying the MNA had been ill for a long time and died of a heart attack.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif issued a statement on Twitter expressing grief over the loss of a senior party member.
"The party has lost an honest and courageous leader," read the tweet.
"Pervaiz had an exemplary relationship of trust, love and loyalty with Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N," said Shehbaz, adding his services for country, democracy and people would always be remembered.
In the statement, Shehbaz said, Pervaiz was a valuable asset for the party. The void created by his death could not be filled, he added.
Leader of opposition in National Assembly prayed for Pervaiz's higher ranks in hereafter. He also extended prayers of patience for bereaved.
Soon after his death condolences were poured in.
PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb lauded the personality of Pervaiz for being a polite person, saying Pervaz's loss was similar for her as she lost her father.
In his condolence message, NA Speaker Asad Qaiser expressed sadness over the death of the PML-N leader.
"My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May Allah bless him with high ranks in Jannah and give patience to his family, Ameen," said Qaiser in a tweet.
President Dr Arif Alvi also expressed deep sorrow over death of the member of National Assembly and extended condolences to bereaved.
