Pakistan willing to do whatever possible to help Afghanistan: Gen Bajwa

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa said Pakistan is willing to do whatever is possible to help Afghanistan achieve an inclusive settlement which is vital for regional peace and prosperity.

He was talking to the UK Chief of Secret Intelligence Service Richard Moore who called on him in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, matters of mutual and professional interests, intelligence and defence collaboration between the two countries and overall regional security, with special emphasis on post US withdrawal in Afghanistan came under discussion.

Bajwa said that Pakistan is helping Afghanistan achieve peace, stability and prosperity.

Pakistan evacuates 7,629 people from Afghanistan

Pakistan has evacuated a total of 7,629 foreign and Pakistani nationals stranded in Afghanistan since Taliban takeover of the neighboring country on August 15 through air and land routes.

Pakistan International Airline has so far evacuated 6,578 people from Kabul airport, till August 26 which included the personnel of important international institutions and organizations.

With a total of 1051 people evacuated via Torkham border, the number of Pakistani nationals evacuated so far stood at 987 including 104 by air.
