Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said in a press conference on Monday the Afghan Taliban had reassured Islamabad that Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan would not be allowed to act against Pakistan from Afghanistan.

The interior minister acknolwedged that Taliban had released some TTP leaders, including Maulvi Faqir Mohammad, jailed by the Ashraf Ghani government.

"The related authorities there have been told that those who have done terrorism in Pakistan [are controlled]," said the interior minister before adding that the Taliban had reasserted their land will not be used for terrorism against Pakistan.

Rasheed was echoing the Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Chaudhri's statements on Friday in which he said his government had asked Taliban to take action against TTP for their terror activities against Pakistan.

In a report for VOA on Friday, Ayaz Gul reported about a high powered commission set up by the Taliban to press "änti-Pakistan miltants" to stop violence and return home.

Gul attributed the story to highly-placed sources.

He said the three-member commission was set up by Taliban chief Hibatullah Akhundzada to address Islamabad's complaints about the TTP using Afghan soil for terror activities against Pakistan.

Gul wrote: "The sources, while speaking to VOA, ruled out the possibility of Pakistan accepting any TTP demands, insisting the amnesty would be offered in line with the country’s constitution and law of the land, that require the militants to surrender their firearms in order to protect Pakistan’s years of counterterrorism gains."
