Asim Iftikhar Ahmad replaces Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri as FO spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's former ambassador to Thailand Asim Iftikhar Ahmad has replaced Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri as the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). the ministry announced on Friday.

According to the details available at the foreign office’s portal Asim has served at various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Pakistan Missions abroad.

He also served as the Director-General (United Nations) from July 2014 to June 2017, Director (Security Council & Human Rights), United Nations Division, and Director Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad.

On the other hand, Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, who was appointed as the FO on August 05, has been posted as the high commissioner to Australia and will leave soon to take up his post in the country, the FO statement further said.

Chaudhri had replaced Aisha Farooqui who was appointed FO spokesperson in December 2019.
