KARACHI: The Sindh government has banned the use of heli-cam on 8, 9 and 10th of Muharram in the province amid security concerns.
The Sindh home department, in a notification issued, said that the use of heli-cams on 8, 9, and 10th of Muharram has been banned across the province, while SHOs have been given special powers over violations under section 144.
Though the provincial government is satisfied with the security arrangements put in place, strict measures are being ensured for the safety of processions and the majalis, the notification read.
Earlier in the month, the Sindh home department had also notified a ban on pillion riding in Karachi on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram.
“In continuation and partial modification of this department’s Notification of even number dated 28.07.2021, the ban on pillion riding for Karachi Division shall be for 8th, 9th, & 10th Muharram-Ul-Harram,” read the notification.
On the other hand Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhary Friday met religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought at the Headquarters of Pakistan Rangers.
He briefed the Ulema about security measures taken so far for Muharram-ul-Haram, Independence Day and Rabi-ul-Awwal.
DG Rangers reiterated that to maintain law and order, Rangers and other LEAs would take all possible measures, said a news release.
Major General Iftikhar Hassan also emphasized upon Ulemas to promote inter-faith harmony.
The scholars on the occasion lauded the security measures taken by LEAs and assured their full support to the agencies.
