PPP senators slammed Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur's remarks at an election rally on Tuesday against the PPP and PML-N leaderships in a lively Senate session.
While campaigning in Azad Kashmir, Gandapur called Zulfikar Ali Bhutto a traitor saying he broke the country so he could become prime minister; he also called Nawaz Sharif a thief. He said Maryam Nawaz was not Kashmiri, but the daughter of Jatts.
Senator Raza Rabbani objected to this and reminded that Bhutto did not compromise with the Americans.
"Bhutto gathered all Islamic countries in Lahore and said that our army belongs to all Islamic countries and gave the air force to Palestine," he said.
Senator Moula Bux Chandio, also of the PPP, said that the "abusive minister of this abusive government" was "paving the way for a new confrontation."
PPP Senator Sherry Rehman asked how dare Gandapur call ZAB a traitor.
"Is Bhutto a traitor because he brought your troops back?" she asked, her voice filled with anger.
The Leader of the House for the Senate Dr Shahzad Waseem said that the opposition leaders used poor language during their rallies in Kashmir. While he spoke, the opposition interrupted him with sloganeering. He said if they did not stop, he would not be able to control his members.
PMLN senators also objected to Gandapur's language towards Nawaz and Maryam. .
