We will "absolutely not" allow the US govt to have CIA in Pakistan: PM Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan in an interview has made clear that Pakistan will not allow the US government to use Pakistani soil for operations after the latter withdraws its troops from Afghanistan.

The premier took a firm stand in an interview with Jonathan Swan of HBO Axios, which will be aired Monday at 3:00 am PST. In a sneak peek clip of the show, the premier reiterated that no access will be provided to foreign forces from within Pakistan.

In the clip when Swan asks Khan if he "will allow the American government to have CIA here in Pakistan to conduct cross border terrorism missions against Al-Qaeda, ISIS, or the Taliban." To which Khan responds:

Absolutely not. There is no way we are going to allow any bases or] any sort of action from Pakistani territory into Afghanistan, absolutely not."

Prime Minister's comment came as negotiations between Pakistan and the US have reached an impasse. The US media had earlier in June reported that Pakistan has agreed to give bases to the US military, however, these reports were categorically rejected by the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
