COVID-19: Pakistan reports 56 deaths, 3.40% positivity rate

Pakistan on Sunday has reported 1,239 new cases and 56 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 36,368 coronavirus tests were taken countrywide, of which only 1,239 came out positive.

There are currently 2,661 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted to different hospitals in the country, however, no new case of severe infection was reported. The reported national positivity rate is 3.40%.

With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed active cases stands at 42,290. Pakistan has so far recorded 941,170 confirmed cases, 21,689 deaths, and a total of 877,191 recoveries from the novel disease.

As per the numbers shared by the Ministry of National Health Service, 93.2% of the total confirmed cases have recovered while the mortality rate is 2.3%.

Currently, most active cases are reported in Sindh (23,193) followed by Punjab (11,546), and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (3,841). There are currently 1,979 active cases in Islamabad, 567 in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, 1,068 in Balochistan, and 96 in Gilgit Baltistan.

Vaccination update:

According to the latest numbers shared by the NCOC, Pakistan has so far administered 10,696,402 vaccine doses. 2,883,959 people are fully vaccinated while 5,439,101 have received at least one dose.
