Islamabad/ Covid: 40 new cases reported as positivity rate dips to 1.32%

ISLAMABAD: The number of people who are contracting the novel coronavirus infection is decreasing day by day in the capital territory.

In the past 24 hours, 3,033 people were sampled for the COVID-19 out of which only 40 tested positive, meaning a positivity rate of 1.32% was reported. Both these tallies, the number of daily cases and the daily positivity rate, are the lowest since the third wave of deadly flu infection started in Islamabad Capital Territory.

The marked reduction in the positivity rate in the past couple of weeks has been the reason behind lifting off the lockdown restrictions in the region.

Today, sharing the daily Covid update via his Twitter handle, ICT's District Health Officer (DHO) Zaeem Zia lauded the efforts of local administration in bringing the number of new cases down. He assured the public that authorities are keeping a check on other variants of coronavirus too. He also encouraged the inhabitants of the district to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.

As per the capital's health authorities, at least 430,000 people have been immunized against the COVID-19 so far. In the next couple of weeks, the local administration aims to increase its daily vaccination capacity to 25,000.

ICT's latest COVID-19 figures as provided by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC)- the nerve center to synergize and articulate unified national effort against COVID-19- are as follows:
