LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday alleged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of presenting wrong statistics before the nation.

Shahbaz Sharif has also advised the opposition parties to unite within the parliament and formulate a budget strategy.

In a statement, the PML-N leader said that unity among opposition parties inevitable to save the masses from federal government’s fraud. All the opposition parties need to adopt joint strategy on this matter, he suggested.

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in honor of the parliamentary leaders of the opposition parties.

According to the statement, the dinner was attended by leaders of PPP, Awami National Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), BNP, Jamiat Ahle Hadith, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and National Party.

However, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz and PDM chairman and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not attend the event.

The government is cheating the nation by presenting wrong figures on national statistics. The SBP and Finance Ministry officials also do not trust these figures and have raised objections. All the opposition should take a joint response, he added.

The PML-N president further said that the worst inflation, unemployment and economic downturn are having serious effects on the people and the country. The opposition must work together to expose the historic incompetence of the government.
