Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Latif has been arrested on bail in a case relating to anti-Pakistan remarks, local media reported.
According to the details, the district and sessions court in Lahore heard the case on Tuesday. During the proceedings, the prosecutor requested the court to cancel Latif's interim bail.
The public prosecutor said that the PML-N leader's controversial statement was anti-state and the prosecution's case is in accordance with all the requirements of the law.
The prosecutor argued that Latif does not have a basis to obtain bail. The MNA's lawyer defended his client saying that his comments were being taken out of context.
The court, after hearing both sides of the arguments, dismissed Latif's interim bail. And he was arrested from the courtroom.
Last month, Latif had said that if anything happens to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, "PML-N will not say Pakistan Khappay (we want Pakistan)", unlike Zardari, who had used those words after Benazir Bhutto was assassinated. His comments were deemed anti-Pakistan and a case was registered against him in Lahore.
