The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Sunday foiled a major terror plan when it arrested 5 alleged militants in an intelligence-based search operation in Shah Latif Town, Karachi. One suspected militant was killed in an exchange of fire.
According to the details, the terrorists were present in a building in Shah Latif Town, and action was taken against them on a tip-off. During the raid, an exchange of fire took place between the suspects and law enforcement agencies which lasted for more than an hour.
CTD Deputy Inspector General Omar Shahid Hamid said that the militants were ready to execute a major terror attack as a rickshaw fitted with explosives was found at their hideout. The explosives were rendered useless by the bomb disposal squad.
