According to the statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the most populous province of Pakistan has reported a total of 154,717 coronavirus cases to date. In the last 24 hours, 700 new cases were confirmed in Punjab. Also, at least 4,608 Punjabis have succumbed to the deadly flu bug.
As of today, the National Covid tally has reached 535,914 and at least 11,376 people have died due to the viral disease in the country.
Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala are the five most adversely affected districts of Punjab.
Lahore, alone, has reported 77,963 Covid-19 cases and accounts for more than 50% of the provincial cases.
Recently, the Punjab government has announced that it is all set to begin Covid vaccination in the province. In the first phase, health care providers will be given jabs. So far, over 300,000 health workers have been registered for this purpose, authorities claim.
