Global Covid-19 deaths exceed 2 million

Another day and another grim Covid milestone reached as the global coronavirus casualties exceed a staggering 2 million figure, as per Johns Hopkins University statistics.

With over 13,000 deaths reported in the past 24 hours the total coronavirus-related casualties currently stand at 2,023,914. The total number of infections that have been reported, to date, is more than 94 million.

It's almost impossible to comprehend how a flu bug can reshape the whole world in a matter of a few months and cause such widespread devastation.

It must be noted that the reported figures are nowhere near the actual estimates of the havoc caused by the coronavirus. Public health experts believe that the genuine toll is several times more. This disparity is due to the fact that not all cases and deaths are being reported globally. In fact, only a portion of them is being reported due to a multitude of reasons.

According to the latest statistics provided by the Johns Hopkins University, the five countries that have reported the most number of coronavirus deaths are as follows:

S#) Country --- Number of Covid-19 deaths    1) United States --- 395,851     2) Brazil --- 209,296     3) India --- 152,274       4) Mexico --- 140,241      5) United Kingdom --- 88,747
