While most of the attention was fixed on the riot at the US Capitol, supporters of Donald Trump protested in cities across the country, and in Olympia, Washington, the demonstrators pushed into the governor's mansion property.
According to details, a violent mob with tactical gear and rifles entered the US Capitol chanting slogans. Several armed supporters of Trump smashed windows of the building and clashed with police.
Washington DC police say four people have died during the clashes, while an emergency for 15 days has been imposed in Washington State.
"We are beyond talking at this point,” the supporters were saying.
The violence temporarily halted debate over President-elect Joe Biden's election win but Congress has reconvened. Some Republicans were trying to overturn the results in some states but lack the required support.
On the other hand, Donald Trump while urging his violent supporters to go home reiterated that the election was stolen.
Earlier, Democrats won two Senate seats in Georgia that shifted the control of the Senate their way.
Meanwhile, the Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff also defeated Republican incumbents.
Moreover, three White House officials have resigned following violence in Washington including the First Lady's Chief of Staff, Stephanie Grisham, White House social secretary Rickie Niceta and Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews.
