Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman has been given the honorary rank of Lieutenant in the Pakistan Navy in appreciation for his services to the country and his commitment to the force.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi pinned the badges of the rank on the celebrated batsman during a ceremony.
On the occasion, Naval Chief congratulated Fakhar Zaman and his family. He highlighted that Pakistan Navy is playing its role to promote sports in the country, adding that the navy will continue encouraging the sportsmen.
The military, civilian and PCB officials attended the event.
Zaman joined the Pakistan Navy in 2007 as a sailor where he earned several awards in the field of cricket. In 2012, he represented the navy in the International Defense Cricket Challenge Cup held in Australia where he was named as the best player of the event.
While playing for the navy, he also received an appreciation certificate from the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
