Covid-19: Pakistan recorded the highest single-day surge in new cases since July 12

  • In the last 24 hours, 2,304 new coronavirus cases were reported in Pakistan. It's the highest one-day spike in the country in four months.

The last time the country recorded a bigger daily tally was on July 12, exactly four months ago, when 2,769 new cases were reported in one day.

The second wave of Covid has been dominating several major cities of Pakistan for the past couple of weeks. The number of cases has been rising gradually and the coronavirus-related fatalities are also surging in the country. Just in the past 24 hours, 37 Pakistanis succumbed to the viral disease.

According to the statistics provided by the federal government, the latest coronavirus situation of Pakistan is as follows:

The cases and deaths are rising at an alarming rate. In the past week, 12,045 new cases and 169 new deaths were reported in the country. Government and public health experts have urged the public to follow coronavirus SOPs and especially avoid big social gatherings to contain the virus.
